Near-RT RIC

Published by Adam Girycki on

ENKI AI has developed a cutting-edge O-RAN compliant Near-Real-Time RAN Intelligent Controller (Near-RT RIC). Built entirely in Python for rapid extension and maximum flexibility to support a wide range of research directions.

The Near-RT RIC, along with its xApps, serves as the central node for optimizing Radio Access Network (RAN) performance within the O-RAN Alliance architecture of the 5G mobile telecommunications system.

E2 nodes, namely O-CUs and O-DUs, are connected to the Near-RT RIC via the E2 interface, which enables event-based configuration of E2 nodes.

The ENKI AI Near-RT RIC supports both bare-metal and containerized Docker deployments.

Containerized Docker deployment.

Our Near-RT RIC is capable of managing hundreds of E2 nodes, including O-CUs, O-DUs, and their associated cells.

The Near-RT RIC in action: 10 O-CUs and 20 O-DUs, managing 60 configured cells, are establishing E2 interface connectivity with the Near-RT RIC. After the E2 setup, the KPM xApp subscribes to one Key Performance Measurement (KPM) in the O-CUs and four KPMs in the O-DUs for each of the cells.
